The Authority in partnership with the Ghana Ports and Habours Authority (GPHA) is working with the private sector for the establishment of the Boankra Inland Port near Kumasi. This very important infrastructure would link the ports of Tema and Takoradi to the inner parts of the country and the landlocked countries of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger. This is expected to be a free port that would combine unimodal and inter-modal operations aimed at easing congestion at Ghana's seaports thus facilitating the transit trade of Ghana's land-locked neighours. Some of the benefits to be derived from the establishment of the Boankra Inland Port Include:
          1. Reduction in generalized transport cost of international cargo to importers and exporters from the middle and northern parts of Ghana, including the sahel sub-region;
           2. Making possible the increased exportation of produce such as cola nuts, shea-butter, cocoa and cocoa products, wood and wood products.
           3. Promotion of the establishment of export processing zones in the vicinity of the inland port.
Shippers' Centers
The Authority is also leading the private sector in the construction of Shippers' Centers at vantage locations within the country. These centers, the principal of which is located in Accra is expected to house a ship brokerage hall, which will create the medium for the creation of a freight market in Ghana. It is expected to be a Center of "maritime technology" linking the ports of Tema, Takoradi, the Kotoka International Airport as well as the Boankra Inland Port by Satellite. Work on a similar project in Takoradi has been completed while the Shippers' Center a Boankra is under construction.
Warehousing
The Authority has six large warehouses in a prime location at the Tema Harbour, to provide warehousing facilities to shippers especially shippers to landlocked countries transiting through the Tema Port. The vision is to provide quality warehousing services through the provision of cargo handling and haulage services to shippers to facilitate movement of goods. The Authority is conducting feasibility studies into a similar warehousing and Truck Parking project in Takoradi and Buipe to enable economic utilization of the vast resources of the Volta Lake.
Ghana Community Network System (GCNet)
The Authority has a stake in the Ghana Community Network (GCNet) Services Limited. The GCNet is an EDI system that links all the major players in the clearing process. It enables quick processing of all customs clearance documentation online and facilitates clearance  of goods through the ports. The essence of the System is to increase speed and transparency in the clearing process and to ensure that the right revenue accruing to Government is realized.
The System would enable the Authority access important maritime data for its research work and the publication of its journal Shipping Review, and Digest of Maritime Statistics.
